 Position Overview

The Twins Universal Business Co. Ltd is private limited liability company looking for a qualified Cabinetmaker for its new furniture making workshop located in Geita, Tanzania, East Africa. Generally, the Company is looking for a Cabinetmaker who has a specialty in the cabinet making, knowledge of building materials,  good practice of housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and non-cluttered workplace,  encompassing operation of woodworking machines, using  hand tools and ability to prepare measurements of interior space, and read and understand shop drawings. The ideal Cabinetmaker is expected to be the workshop manager after sometime of working with the Company in the Department of Furniture & Furnishings.

Job description

Your duties as a Cabinetmaker will include but not limited to the following:

• Operates woodworking machines and using hand tools to cut, shape and form wood.
• Fits parts together using glue and clamps.
• Reinforces joints using nails or screws.
• Trims joints.
• Sands wooden surfaces and applying veneer, stain or polish to finished products.
• Repairs or restyles wooden furniture or fixtures.
• Marks outlines or dimensions on wood.
• Prepares or interprets drawings or blueprints.
• Prepares work estimates.
• Operates woodworking machines and use of hand tools to cut, shape and form wood.
• Prepares and interprets drawings and blueprints.
• Makes proper measuring of the interior space is imperative.
• Prepares work estimates.
• Able to custom build pieces in an efficient manner.
• Operates and programs Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment, as a part of designsoftware.
• Provides excellent customer service.
• Works under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
• Ensures attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property andinformation
• Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices;follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, includingsafe operation of machines and equipment.

 Qualifications

•  The preferable candidate should possess strong skills in cabinet making.
• Formal education is not a requirement however if an applicant possess such qualification it will be an added advantage.
• Strong ability to read and interpret shop drawings.
• Possesses strong problem-solving skills to achieve design intent.
• Comprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practices.
• Holds a driving license.
•  Ability to work within a team or independently as needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
•  Willing to work evenings, on call and weekends when requested.

 Work Conditions

As a Cabinetmaker you will work indoors, either alone, in teams or with helpers. The job can be physically demanding and often involves working with high-speed woodworking machinery. As with all careers in the construction industry, safety is the top priority. Cabinetmakers are trained to work safely and wear special equipment to protect against injury.
